Today I Turn 50

I fully expect to receive my AARP card in the mail any time now. After the initial shock of being twenty years early, I’ll now be eligible for discounts on icy hot, glide and possibly a knee or hip replacement. Hopefully my health insurance, coupled with my new discount card, will work towards reduced rate massage and the occasional pedicure. My body hurts. It doesn’t just hurt a little or only when I get out of bed, it hurts all the time. Into week three I started using the door handle as leverage to get off the toilet. We ran this morning, albeit only 2.6 miles (our lowest since the first week). We may not have run far but we ran fast today—so fast that Little B almost ran right into a car. Hopefully tomorrow will be better because I have bruises today from hitting the wall.

AARP does not allow membership until age 55. As for every part of your body hurting.. Get used to it, that is why you have recovery, I actually look forward to not being able to move that fast.It feels like I have done something. Last year after training for the OUC half and like you never having run My body didn't stop hurting till 2 weeks after I ran it. Of course I didn't run after it to take a break. Of course I am much closer to AAARP age than you even feel. Running is fun.. If you are wondering who this is I am Mr. Phabulous a friend of Little B's from the Dance Studio..

Looks like ThomasWhoDoesNotRun has the age thing backwards. My wife Carla (over 40) ran the last six miles of this year's WDW Marathon with a broken foot. Did Carla whine about being old??? Nope - she just pulled up her big girl panties and dealt with it. Two years before that I finished the last twelve miles of WDW with an IT band that was pulling at my knee. No whining, just finishing.

ThomasWhoDoesNotRun is down at the other side of the spectrum, the baby age, whining from a little pain. Maybe ThomasWhoDoesNotRun should run with a pacifier to have something to concentrate on besides a little discomfort :)
