Month: Start of November
Miles: Too many to keep track of
Death Toll: 0
Injuries: Just more soreness
So this is going to be a short and simple post, as I'm only going to tell you about our 20 mile run (was originally supposed to be 18) Saturday morning.
So we had to start our morning bright and early, since we had the ever important UCF Homecoming- tailgating extravaganza to attend, and thus began at 4:30 am. This of course doesn't include the 4 a.m. that I got up at to get ready and have a mini bagel nor the 3:45 a.m. that Big B awoke so she too could get ready and eat her small smorgasbord of mini bagel, orange drink and fish pills.
So, we attempted the "run 10 minutes, walk 1 minute" but it was really more of run for 10, walk for 1, run some more, keep running, take a water break, continue running, take another water break, run again, walk for a minute, run for 10, walk for a minute, run for 10, until finally Big B said "ok, last time to break before we're almost done, do you want to stop?" At this point, I just wanted to finish and thinking that Big B (the mileage tracker you will recall from previous posts) would never steer my wrong, I said "let's just keep going and finish this," all the while, not knowing what we had left but thinking that we must be in the last mile, as we've almost been running for 3 hours.
So, we continue on, and she says "we're almost done, just a little further," and I'm thinking ok... just a little further, keep going. She checks in right at the three hour mark and says, "10 more minutes" and I'm thinking "ok, one more mile, give or take" and she continues on "until we hit 20 miles!" I promptly responded with the ever mature "I'm not talking to you for five minutes!"
And so it was to be that we completed 20 miles, b/c really, who's going to come within 10 minutes of reaching the next big milestone and call it quits?!
Until next time...
